Open Letter

An Open Letter to the Parents of our Scouts

Dear Parents,

We would like to take some time to provide a few reminders to  the parents of our wonderful Cub scouts.

First, our Pack Program involves many family activities.  We encourage and welcome you to participate in many areas.  there are needs within the Pack and within your son's individual Dens.  If you are not sure where you can help, please talk to your Den Leader or one of us.  We will gladly help you find a way to volunteer within our program.

Second, the monthly Pack Meetings will continue to be held on the 1st Thursday of most months (January is the Exception).  The Pack Meetings are for the boys and their families.  In recent months, we recognized that more and more boys were being dropped off for this very important meeting.  While we understand that everyone has busy schedules, your son needs you to be part of this meeting.

There have been too many times recently that a boy was to receive an award and had no parent to join them at the front.  This causes the boys to forget about their achievement and, instead, feel disappointed.  We are sure that this has never been done intentionally, but it has happened.  We'd like your help to avoid this type of situation.

Also there is an important part of the meeting that is just for parents.  We go through the upcoming events and answer questions about programs.  Besides your Den Leaders, this is the other means for you to get information about what is going on.  too many times, we hear parents say that they "didn't know" about an event, deadline, etc.  By attending the Pack Meeting, this is also avoided.

Finally, we ask that you communicate with both the Cub Master and the Committee Chair regarding any concerns.  We cannot promise that everything will be perfect, but we will certainly DO OUR BEST - which is what Cub scouting is all about.

We are proud of our Pack and the families that support their boys.  Please consider these suggestions to help us make our Pack even better!

Thank You,

Tom Schmitz, Committee Chairman

Craig Ghislin, Cub Master
