Cub Scout Uniform

=====================================================================================

Why we wear it, and how....

The Boy Scouts of America has always been a uniformed body. There are many reasons for this. One reason stands out above all the rest. We wear the uniform because it is a means of identifying ourselves openly with the principles to which we are committed-character development, citizenship training, and physical and mental fitness.

Scouts are responsible for purchasing their own uniforms except the following items, which are purchased by the pack:  neckerchiefs, tie slides, round Three Fires Council patch, which goes on the back center of the brag vest.

The only uniform pieces scouts are required to have are the following:

Blue Cub Scout Shirt

Red Brag Vest (can be purchased or made on your own)

"227" number patches

Den number strip

Three Fires Council shoulder patch

World Crest patch (round purple patch)

You will probably want to purchase a belt since the scouts can earn special belt loops for them.  Be sure to buy one large enough to last several years.

Below is more information on uniforms and how to place patches in the right position.  See the bottom of this page for local scout store locations and operating hours.

Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and WEBELOS Common Uniform Components....

[We recommend that you purchase a size larger than needed, as your Cub will be wearing this for a couple of years]

TIGER CUB SPECIFIC UNIFORM COMPONENTS....

The official Tiger Cub uniform is the complete blue Cub Scout uniform with identifiable and appropriate Tiger Cub insignia. This is in line with the program's continuing efforts to promote Tiger Cubs as an integral part of a Cub Scout pack.

Components of the Tiger Cub uniform are illustrated at the right and include the following:

It may be worn when selling tickets to such events as Scouting shows that are approved by the council.

The uniform may not be worn by either Cub Scouts or adult leaders when:

All uniforms, badges, and insignia of the Boy Scouts of America may be used only by members of the Boy Scouts of America who are registered and in good standing. No alteration of or addition to the official uniform, badges, or insignia, or the rules and regulations covering the wearing of the uniform, may be authorized by anyone except the National Executive Board. Badges awarded by organizations other than the Boy Scouts of America may not be worn on the official uniform.
